Projection Mapping Tutorial

When to use Projection Mapping

Projection Mapping allows you to take the details from a high poly mesh and bake it into a low poly mesh’s material without adding extra polygons. Essentially your low poly mesh looks like it is a high poly mesh. It allows you to have much smaller file sizes. This technique is often used in the 3D Gaming industry.

Using this tutorial, you will save the details from the high poly model onto a normal map and apply that as a bump material onto the low poly model. This creates a dynamic material that interacts with light.
